People Group Theory
"And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come" (Matt 24:14). "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matt 28:19-20). "After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands" (Rev 7:9). The commands to take the gospel to all the nations - and the ultimate result among all peoples - are familiar. But what exactly do we mean by "the nations"? Scripture couldn't have had in mind today's nation-states, which didn't exist in New Testament times. But neither did our modern concept of ethnolinguistic groups. So what does it really mean to take the gospel to all peoples?
